Dear Mr. President

Dear Mr. President, I have woken up today to what appears to be your lack of desire for the republican party to maintain a majority in 2006.

“We’re going to have a tough summer because people are beginning to drive now during tight supply,” Bush said as he toured a California facility developing hydrogen-powered vehicles.

“The American people have got to understand what happens elsewhere in the world affects the price of gasoline you pay here.”

With all due respect Mr. President yes their was. As you know oil issues are largely seasonal issues. You could have as the oil purchases were coming in for what would be the late spring early summer drive time opened up the strategic oil reserve some. You could have explained to the gas companies that for doing this they have to work on keeping their prices at the pump down.

Doing that would have pushed down pressure on the oil supply then lowering the prices then thus making any later raises smaller.

You then also could “threaten” to do the same again and offer US assistance to mediate the dispute in Nigeria and bam lower oil prices

You could have fixed it Mr. President, and I think either you had an utter lack of vision or you simply don’t care.

Bush also blamed the higher prices on a shortage of refinery capacity in the United States, and also on an ongoing shift in fuel additives and mixes that has caused supply hiccups in certain areas.

I’m not going to even engage your idiotic blame of China and India because thats not the point. We are getting our oil resources in different Markets from India and China, so that isn’t the problem.

The problem is how the enviromental regulations have hamstrung the United States. Had you come out and said we are going to create a single national fuel grade, and had you fought for it back in 04 and 05 it would probably be a reality now and prices would be lower ( while you could say your out there improving the enviroment)

You could have fought to get your energy bill through, which had the first major scale for more refinery building included. Why because we simply do not have the refining capacity in this country to meet the demand. That Mr. President is why we have a problem, not India and China. Our supply chain is rickety and old and you -should- have done something about it.

If we lose control of the house and senate in 06, I’m going to write the political tombstone for the Bush Administration with what I think will be histories judgement of George W Bush

to quote your father its all about a “Vision thing”
